The members of the Finnish-British Trade Association are kindly invited to a luncheon meeting on Friday 4 February 2022 at the British Embassy in Helsinki. 

The meeting will start with a greeting by the Embassy.

The Embassy’s opening remarks will be followed by presentations by Mr Marc Palahí, Director at the European Forest Institute and Mr Esa Kaikkonen, CEO of Metsä Tissue at Metsä Group.

Mr Palahí is a leading expert on forests and global change, with a new vision of the transformational role forests can play in fighting climate change and developing a circular bioeconomy. He has a PhD in forestry and economics and his work focuses on the development of a sustainable circular bioeconomy that prospers in harmony with nature.Mr Palahí co-organised a specific event during COP26 hosted by The Prince Wales.

Mr Kaikkonen has been acting as Chief Executive Officer of Metsä Tissue since 2018 and a member of the Metsä Group’s Executive Management Team since 2008. He has served as Executive Vice President of Metsä Wood from 2013 to 2018 and as the General Counsel of the Metsä Group from 2003 to 2012. He will present the growth initiatives of Metsä Tissue and the ESG targets of Metsä Group. 

The event will be co-hosted by Ms Theresa Bubbear, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Finland, and moderated by Ms Susanna Korpivaara, Chair of the Finnish-British Trade Association.
