The United Kingdom has left the European Union.

The transition period agreed in the Withdrawal Agreement will end on the 31st of December 2020, after which the UK will no longer trade with the EU as part of the EU’s Single Market and Customs Union. Negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between the UK and the EU have been ongoing throughout 2020.

The British Embassy in Helsinki, together with the UK’s Department for International Trade, the Finnish-British Trade Association, the Finland Chamber of Commerce, and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Finland, are pleased to invite Finnish businesses trading with the United Kingdom to a seminar on business readiness at the end of the transition period.

 

When: 1st of December 2020 at 15.00-17.00 Helsinki
The event will be a live streamed webinar.A link to join the webinar will be sent to those registered closer to the event.

 

The event will be hosted by H.E. Mr Tom Dodd, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Finland, and H.E. Mr Markku Keinänen, Ambassador of Finland to the UK.

 

Presentations by experts from the UK and Finland will highlight future changes in the areas of border and customs procedures, export and import requirements of food, movement of people, transfer of personal data, and services.

 

The event will be moderated by Mr Juha Jokela, Programme Director at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs. Mr Jokela covers EU’s foreign and security policy, the UK withdrawal from the EU, EU in global and regional governance, and Finland’s EU policy at FIIA.
