Webinar showcasing selected forestry sector business opportunities in Zambia on Tuesday 21st November 2023 from 10:00 to 11:30.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland has through the AGS Programme (Accelerated Growth for SMEs in Zambia in partnership with Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development) conducted a study on forestry sector opportunities in Zambia. This business opportunity publication will be launched on the 21st of November 2023 in a webinar. The online event will be joined by the Minister of Green Economy and Environment of  the Republic of Zambia, Hon. Collins Nzovu.

Zambia’s forestry sector presents significant and exciting business opportunities for growth and partnership. The formal and informal forestry sectors account for an estimated 5.2% of Zambia’s GDP, which in monetary terms amounts to an estimated € 1.3 billion. With 49 million hectares of natural forest and woodlands, around 61,000 hectares of plantations, and a small but established formal forestry sector, the sector presents a number of untapped business opportunities.

This study identified six major opportunities of an estimated combined value of over 4 billion Euros: carbon offsets, management of forest resources, non-forest timber products, wooden poles, furniture, paper and pulp, as well as packaging.
