Africa Business Network and Finnpartnership organized on March 25, together with Investir au Sénégal and The Gambia Investment & Export Promotion Agency, a small seminar on strengthening commercial cooperation and exploring investment opportunities with these countries. The event gathered about 25 participants from Senegal, The Gambia and Finland.

The development plans of Senegal—Vision 2025 and New Deal Technologique—align well with Finnish expertise and offerings. Key areas highlighted included: renewable energy and the green transition, circular economy, digitalization, agribusiness (including packaging industry and logistics), cybersecurity, and education.

The Gambian participants, in turn, saw cooperation opportunities especially in various infrastructure projects such as roads and ports, in the development of agriculture and tourism, as well as in teacher education.

Both countries offer various investment incentives and benefits to foreign investors, including tax exemptios. Senegal has just approved a new business‑friendly investment law (code des investissements), and in The Gambia a company can be established within 24 hours.

They also emphasized that it is easy to start business in Senegal and The Gambia, thru which you will have access all ECOWAS countries and its market, easy connections to Europe and the USA, a favorable investment environment, a functional private sector and a willingness to cooperate with Finland, whose reliability and good governance was highlighted.

Participants expressed their interest in the seed funding offered by Finnpartnership.

The discussion was lively, and it seemed that the networking objective of the event was achieved. There are about 400 Senegalese and around 1,100 Gambians living in Finland.Their expertise and cultural knowledge can be valuable when considering commercial cooperation with these countries.
