Mediterranean Tunisia welcomes Finns! This time, representatives of the Africa Network in connection with the Finland Chamber of Commerce met with Tunisia’s Ambassador to Finland, H.E. Nabiha Hajjaji. A shared interest is to increase trade and business cooperation between our countries.

Tourism emerged in the discussions as a sector currently seen in Tunisia as a significant driver for revitalising business, growth, and employment. Naturally, it is important to learn from the mistakes of mass tourism and to develop tourism in a more sustainable direction. The Ambassador’s strong wish was to encourage Finns to travel to Tunisia in large numbers and enjoy the warmth, sunshine, rich culture, and excellent Mediterranean/North African cuisine almost year-round.

The Ambassador also expressed the hope that more Tunisian food products would find their way onto Finnish dining tables. To our delight, we noted that many of us had already spotted Tunisian olive oil in S Group stores, identifiable by the black horse on a yellow label. There was also a hope that Finnish retailers would purchase more high-quality products directly from developing countries, rather than sourcing them through intermediaries and large wholesalers in the Netherlands and Belgium.
