According to the Chilean National Statistics Institute (INE), wood is a relevant material in the construction industry in Chile. In 2016, 17 % of all the construction, was predominantly made of wood. Wood construction was 80 % of housing buildings and 20 % commercial or service buildings. Chile is recognized world widely for having one of the best infrastructures and great potential to innovate in the use of wood in constructions and it´s no surprise that Chile will be the first in Latin America country to host the next World Conference on Timber Engineering in 2020.

The event is co-organised by the Finnish-Latin American Business Association and Niina Fu, Business Consulting in Latin America.
