What kind of commercial activity does your company have in the Southeast Asian countries? – in which country/countries do you operate?

Fazer Mills exports oat products to Malesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. We have local partners and ongoing discussions to expand our sales further in the Southeast Asian countries in the near future.

What advice would you like to give to a Finnish company planning to enter the Southeast Asian market?

We think it is very important to know the local way to work as well as possible. It is worth taking advantage of all possible networks and find out all the requirements related to import. And in the end, of course, the most important thing is to find reliable and committed partners.

Please share one of the success stories your company has experienced in a Southeast Asian country.

We have been able to help our customers to build whole new product lines in Taiwan. With our help, they have been able to create products which are branded as Finnish oats and Organic oats. As we have Taiwanese organic certification, together we have made sure that our customers can differentiate their products from competitors’ product range.

How do you see the position of the Southeast Asian countries in your activities during the coming five years?

There is a rising trend in the plant-based drink market in the Asia Pacific region. Also, oat-based drinks are increasing in popularity, as consumers nowadays look for special functionality in these drinks, which form a part of their lifestyle. Fazer Mills can offer a wide range of various kinds of oat products for both the non-dairy and breakfast industries. We believe that our pure Nordic quality will find a steady market position in Southeast Asia.

We want to spread the joy of good grain from Nordics!

We aim to grow our business in the region, and we want to expand our business network and get some advice for planning our export activities.

Please describe your company in a nutshell?

Fazer Mills is one of the largest and best-known oat producers in Europe and we sell high-quality Nordic oats directly to the global market. We have two mills located in Finland and Sweden which capacities were doubled in 2021. Today, our versatile oats selection covers approx. 80 different oat products from wholegrain oat flakes, flours, groats, and brans to more added-value ingredients such as oat protein and beta glucan. These products are exported to 40 countries – always with 100 % Nordic quality.

Something you would like to tell us about yourself?

As a person? I genuinely enjoy the Finnish nature in all its’ forms. I spend my winters skiing (freestyle and free skiing) thanks to the snow we have here in the Nordics. During summers I do a variety of different outside sports, taking advantage of the fresh air and clean waters. Working at Fazer provides a great basis for an overall healthy life. As an Export Manager, I get to familiarize myself with various kinds of cultures and diets. And furthermore, I get to share our great Nordic plant-based ingredients all around the world.
