UPCOMING EVENTS֎ Lisbon, Portugal 15 February 2017 – 09:00 am (GMT) Training session: The importance of Intellectual Property in the process of internationalisation to Latin America. The training session is addressed to all those EU SMEs doing business in Latin America or that are willing to do so. The main issues concerning the protection of Intellectual Property to bear in mind when internationalizing a business in these countries will be presented with special focus on Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Mexico. Moreover, attendees will have the chance to be assisted by Intellectual Property Experts during bilateral meetings. The initiative is organized by the EU-funded Latin America IPR SME Helpdesk. International conference and B2B meetings organised in the framework of the Business Beyond Borders (BBB) project Business Beyond Borders is a new European Commission (EC) initiative which will help EU businesses, in particular Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Clusters, to operate internationally with the ultimate goal of increasing economic growth within and outside Europe. The Business Beyond Borders matchmaking event will take place on the first two days of Genera 2017 Energy and Environment International Trade Fair . Within the framework of the fair, EU SMEs business cases and experiences on how to protect SMEs Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) when doing business in Latina America will be presented during the conference on 28 February that precedes the B2B sessions. The event will be supported by the EU-funded ELAN Network programme whose main purpose is to generate technologies bases business opportunities between European and Latina American SMEs, and by the EU-funded Latin American Intellectual Property Rights Helpdesk project which supports EU SMEs to both protect and enforce their IPRs through the provision of free information and services.

֎ Third call for proposals – La Unión Europea lanza la 3ra convocatoria a Fondos Concursables de AL-Invest 5.0 Proposals to be submitted only in Spanish El programa AL-Invest 5.0 lanzó el 5 de enero 2017 la Tercera Convocatoria del programa AL-Invest 5.0, para financiar proyectos de fomento empresarial en toda Latinoamérica. Como las anteriores dos, esta Tercera Convocatoria está abierta para que organizaciones sin fines de lucro presenten proyectos que impulsen la productividad de micro, pequeñas y medianas empresas (Mipymes) de 18 países de Latinoamérica. Las instituciones seleccionadas se unirán a las más de 100 organizaciones de Latinoamérica y Europa que ejecutan el Programa con la meta de fortalecer a más de 27 mil Mipymes hasta el año 2019. El monto de este fondo es de un millón de euros y el monto total por proyecto es de 200 mil euros. El objetivo de este llamado es ejecutar proyectos para impulsar la vinculación empresarial, la mejora de la productividad y el incremento de las capacidades de las organizaciones empresariales de la región. Costa Rica, Honduras, México y Panamá son los países prioritarios en esta Tercera Convocatoria (ya que fueron los que menos proyectos seleccionados tuvieron en los anteriores dos llamados). Un valor añadido a la hora de seleccionar los proyectos será el empoderamiento a las mujeres, las iniciativas que promuevan el intercambio entre Latinoamérica y Europa y las que incluyan un enfoque de cuidado y respeto al medio ambiente.
