The Finland-Hong Kong Business Association and the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce signed a Memorandum of Understanding

The Finland–Hong Kong Business Association and the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce have entered a new phase of cooperation with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in Hong Kong. As Chair of FHBA, I, Pertti Jalasvirta, had the privilege of signing the agreement together with HKGCC CEO Patrick Yeung. The ceremony represented far more than a formal step. It marked a strategic commitment to build a stronger bridge between the Nordic region and one of Asia’s most dynamic and internationally connected business hubs.

Hong Kong is actively redefining its global economic position with a combination of stability, efficiency and long-term strategic investment. For Nordic companies, the city offers a uniquely competitive environment for scaling innovation, accessing deep financial and corporate services and entering the Greater Bay Area. For Hong Kong enterprises, the Nordics represent excellence in sustainability, clean technologies, digital health, advanced engineering and research-driven solutions. The MoU creates a structured pathway for these strengths to meet.

Throughout our discussions, the message was consistent. In a rapidly changing geopolitical and economic landscape, companies need reliable gateways, trusted networks and partners who understand both cultures and both markets. This agreement positions FHBA and HKGCC to support that need through coordinated activities, business matchmaking, delegations, market intelligence and practical facilitation that helps companies move from initial interest to measurable outcomes.
I want to thank Patrick Yeung and the leadership team at HKGCC for their professionalism, hospitality and forward-looking dialogue. The atmosphere during the visit was constructive, energetic and grounded in a shared ambition to create real impact for our members.
This partnership is only the beginning, and we are committed to turning it into concrete value for businesses on both sides.
