We had an excellent and forward-looking meeting with the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES) in Hong Kong. Thank you Dr. Jimmy Chiang, Deputy Director-General, and Peter Yan, Director-General, for an open and strategic discussion.

OASES is building a focused, high-impact platform to strengthen Hong Kong’s innovation ecosystem in areas such as AI, life and health sciences, new energy, sustainability and advanced manufacturing. Their mandate under the Financial Secretary’s Office allows them to coordinate across government and support companies long after they land in Hong Kong. Success is measured not by how many companies arrive, but by how well their first project performs.

This aligns strongly with Nordic strengths in deep tech, sustainability and advanced engineering. Finland and the broader Nordic region innovate quickly but often face limited scale-up capacity. Hong Kong offers the opposite: global connectivity, capital and an execution-driven environment. These complementary strengths create a powerful foundation for collaboration.

FHBA, represented today by Pertti Jalasvirta, Chairman, and James Chen, Chief Liaison Officer in Hong Kong, is already deepening cooperation with Business Finland, Nordic associations and sector federations. Our shared digital matchmaking tool supports quality connections between Nordic and Hong Kong companies. We look forward to expanding this partnership and building new success stories together.
