Egypt’s ambitious mega projects open up new business opportunities
Mr Karim Ali, Economic and Trade Advisor to the Ambassador of Egypt to Finland and H.E. Ambassador Mr Mohamed Ghoneim
There is a strong and growing political dialogue between Egypt and Finland, marked by high-level visits and deepening cooperation. This positive momentum is opening up new opportunities for Finnish companies to participate in Egypt’s ambitious mega projects, particularly in infrastructure, mobility, water management, green energy, and hydrogen development. Connectivity between our countries is also improving, with direct flights now operating twice weekly between Helsinki and Hurghada, and discussions ongoing to establish a Helsinki–Cairo route.
Finnish companies are increasingly active in the Egyptian market, with major players like Huhtamaki, Nokia, Kone, and Wärtsilä making significant strides. A recent milestone includes the awarding of the Golden License to Huhtamaki, underscoring the growing confidence in Finnish investments.
Trade relations between Egypt and Finland are long-standing, evolving from traditional sectors such as wood and paper to today’s focus on technology, education, and knowledge exchange. These ties are further strengthened by vibrant cultural and tourism connections, enriching the partnership between our nations.
