India, a country of 1.3 billion people, adopted a detailed management strategy and well executed plan, pre-emptive preventive methodology and awareness about all the steps taken by the Government, to manage COVID-19. In India, the first confirmed COVID positive case was reported on 30th of January, a day before Italy saw its first case (on 31st January). India has been under a nation-wide lockdown since March 25 – which will continue until 3 May to break transmission through social distancing. On March 19, India was on curfew. It was an India specific crisis response measure tailored to Indian conditions and has demonstrated results. Government, central and states, used this period to trace and isolate positive cases and their contacts. The graph of COVID 19 cases has “flattened.” Cases are doubling in a little under 4 days.
